No Joking Matter

I don't know why I get upset, but two of my friends from Trent, Lauren and Meriah have the following in their MSN names:

"My shoulder looks like skin cancer"
"melanoma: fancy talk for sexified"

I know it's not serious, and my mom's going to be fine...I know that they don't mean anything by it, and if they knew they wouldn't say things...but I just get a little miffed, because it isn't something to joke about. I can't believe that Megan and Rachel last year would go to the tanning salon. You're supposed to look pasty white, it's WINTER! I will never forget when I passed Rachel on the way to the bus stop and when she smiled to say hi and I could see wrinkles on her face!! George went out golfing today and got burnt on his neck again. And I do it too every now and then. We don't learn, but having someone close to me getting a scare like cancer gets me a little more conscious of it.

I'm going to write a letter/email to Oprah. I know sounds silly (Jane I know you're shaking you're head), but really, my mom is getting laser treatment for her Rosacia, and her hair...I don't know what's wrong with it, but it's just limp and her at home perms and high lights just don't look good. I want to take her to Oprah, but for it to be a surprise and she get a makeover. I know she's self conscious of her looks because of her Rosacia and her hair, but I really want her to feel beautiful. For Christmas I want to get her those Glamour Shot pictures, but to look really stunning in those, you need your hair and make up done all nice too.
